“1,000 & Counting”

Can you believe that we published our 1,000th BLOG yesterday. 1000 divided by 365 day, equals 2.7 years of BLOGS…. almost three years of BLOGS. To be perfectly honest I often re-published some BLOGS on the weekend, so there are not 1,000 original BLOGS….. probably about 900 or so originals and 100 or so repeats. Also … Continue reading “1,000 & Counting”

The Balm Of Forgiveness

The theme of yesterday’s Mass reading from Matthew 18:21-35 was  FORGIVENESS. The above passage ends with the judge handing the unforgiving person over to the torturers and Jesus saying, “ so will my heavenly father do to you unless you forgive your brother from the heart.” (Mt. 18:35) Forgiveness is extremely  important to God.  This theme was picked … Continue reading The Balm Of Forgiveness

“Risking All For God”

Some people seem to love a good fight; they like to stir the pot. When things get too quiet, there they are giving somebody the “hotfoot”. If you say Mickey Mantle was the best Yankee of all time, they come back with both barrels championing Joe D or the Babe.  What can I say ? They … Continue reading “Risking All For God”

“ Is It Time ? ”

“The fullness of time” is  a very thought provoking term. Scripture used it when describing the timing of the Lord’s coming to earth as a child….. “In the fullness of time, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law.” (Gal. 4:4) “The fullness of time”…. the right time for things to happen… … Continue reading “ Is It Time ? ”

The Wiener Wagon

You’ll never guess what a friend of mine saw the other day while driving through Pennsylvania. Hmmmmmm, was it a famous movie star, a superstar athlete, an honest politician, a meteor ? No, no, no….. do you give up? Okay I’ll tell you…. he saw the “Wiener Wagon”. I’m serious the “Wiener Wagon” is still … Continue reading The Wiener Wagon

“Virtue Rather Than Wealth”

The passage about Lazarus and the rich man is very familiar to us. (Luke 16:19-31) Over the years this parable has been “mined” by countless theologians; artists have produced literature and poetry and music referencing Lazarus and the rich man Dives. Some say it’s not a parable, but that Lazarus was an actual person. I … Continue reading “Virtue Rather Than Wealth”

You’re Not Serious ?

After someone says something that you view as “NOT SPOT ON”, have you ever been tempted to “roll your eyes, or emit a sigh, or maybe even a quiet mumble under your breath.” I have to admit that occasionally I’m guilty as charged. In fact, at times my response has even been more dramatic…. perhaps even … Continue reading You’re Not Serious ?

The Lord Blesses The Little With The Great

Some people are just bigger than life. While we admire them, it’s hard to imagine ever doing what they did. This includes great intellects and athletes, care givers…. people from every walk of life who live in an extraordinary way. I read yesterday about Green Beret Colonel Paris Davis who was awarded the Medal of Honor for … Continue reading The Lord Blesses The Little With The Great
