“What’s Next For The BLOG ? ”

As I was posting yesterday’s BLOG on the “Touhill Chickens”, I was thinking that someone is losing their mind… and it might be me. So, I think it’s time to “take this BLOG  up a notch”….. hmmmmmm,  but how ?

Well, perhaps we should try and focus the BLOG on some particular questions that might be of interest…. especially of interest  to my older grandchildren who are now into their late teens thru their mid 20’s. There’s a lot going on in the Church and the world that can be a bit confusing and even frightening. So, if they have a particular question or even concern, I could try and shed some light on the subject. It’s not that I know everything (ask Judy), but I’m happy to try and find answers that I don’t know. At the same time, there may be questions that the rest of us have (other than grandchildren) that could be interesting to explore. Hopefully, I’ll stay away from more confusion and heresy. I’m not above bringing in outside experts like my friends Jack (C.S.) Lewis or Johnny (J.R.R.)Tolkien, or Chuck the Chicken …..

So, please send in questions that you want to explore a bit…send it in on the comments section at the end of the BLOG or e-mail me at davetouhillsr@gmail.com and I’ll give it a try. It might take time to get this thru the system before I can begin, so I’ll do some adlibbing in the meantime. Wow, is this exciting or what ? 

For now, I’ll “prime the pump” with a question that’s been on my mind for a while. Ready? “ Why did the chicken cross the road?”….no,no,no… not the chickens again. 

Okay, try this one… why did Jesus not explain the parables to his general audience, but only to his disciples?  Hmmmmmm. In Matthew, Chapter 13, Jesus answered, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.”         ( Matt. 13:11-13) 

Wow, that almost seems harsh or uncaring. What’s going on? Well, I’ve read that the hearts of the people had become dull and hard and they were spiritually blind and simply could not understand. Others refer to the parable of the sower where the cares of the world, desire for riches, the devil, all snatch away the “word and its meaning” and they can’t understand. I guess in all of that it’s the person’s earlier response that hinders him from understanding. Sometimes I think that if you don’t understand the “basics”, you are unable to understand what follows….. it’s tough to understand how the “heart” functions if you don’t know some basic biology. If you keep responding to what the Lord shows you, then you’re ready for more when it comes.
