Before the Coronavirus and the quarantine, no one used the word ZOOM, except little kids playing cars….”zooooom, , zooooooom …….uuurrrrrttttt ……zoom…. uuuurrrttttt….crash.”
Really! If you could calculate the total times the word ZOOM was said in 2020 vs 2019 … maybe a zillion to one.
People of all ages know about ZOOM. I feel like a “techno wizard” because I’ve hosted many ZOOM meetings with people from 1st grade (my grandkids) to good friends in their 90’s.

Let me ask a few questions regarding ZOOM and see what you think:
- Does anyone enjoy ZOOM ?
- Can anyone hear well with ZOOM?
- Does anyone look better on ZOOM than in real life?
- Does anyone have a ZOOM call without at least one technical difficulty?
Let me count that up……..okay……..hmmmm……. okay, got it.
Of the people surveyed, everyone answered NO to the above questions, except one person. The only person who answered YES to my questions was Eric Yuan.
Yes, Eric loves ZOOM. Why you may ask? Because Eric is the founder of ZOOM. Why is Eric smiling? It’s reported that “Eric Yuan, the founder and CEO of Zoom, has made nearly $4 billion in 3 months as usage of his video conferencing software skyrockets amid the coronavirus pandemic. He built a $35 billion video conferencing empire in nine years.” (ref. businessinsider.com — April 1, 2020)
I call him “Smiling Eric Yuan”. As I looked up images of Eric on the Internet, I noted that he was always smiling. He actually has a very nice smile.
If Eric is smiling because he made $4 billion dollars in 3 months, shouldn’t you and I be smiling because we won the grand prize of “life on high in Christ Jesus, Our Lord” ? He made a lot of money that will pass away very quickly, but you and I have won an eternal inheritance that will never pass away. Jesus reminds us …. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal.” (Mt. 6:19-20)
Of note, Eric is 49 years old, married and spends a lot of time with his family. I hope that in addition to being wealthy on earth, he will one day be wealthy in heaven…. that would really be great.
