There’s a lot of history to Labor Day. It’s a time for bar-b-ques and picnics and that last trip to the beach …… vacation season ending and school starting. It originated almost 150 years ago and marked a sign when labor fought back for some well deserved rights in our country. You can read that “Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday began in 1882.”

With the coronavirus and the social unrest, Labor Day has almost gotten lost in the shuffle this year. But let’s pause to thank God for our great country and all those who have worked so hard to make it a great nation.
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
And as we’re thanking God and toasting all the hard workers who made our country great , let’s say a prayer and ask a blessing on a good friend, Bill Longo, who passed away 35 years ago this Labor Day. God bless you Bill and pray for all of us.
Wow – Bill Longo – God rest his soul. Good man with a great sense of humor.
