“WE ARE SO BLESSED”

The grace of God allows you to do things you just couldn’t do on your own. It doesn’t make it easy, it makes it possible. Personally I’d prefer that grace would make things easy and enjoyable and funny and cheerful and wonderful. Ultimately doing the will of God thru God’s grace, makes it all those things and more, but at the time it still may be challenging. I hope that’s perfectly clear. Hmmmmmmm.

You may have noticed from a recent BLOG that we’re back from our trip to Michigan. You may think, “I guess ole Dave & Judy are just sitting around looking out the window…I mean what could they be doing, they’re retired and just sitting on their fanny…..”. Well if you think that, you would be very wrong. Our returning home is more like trying to jump on a moving train. Remember those old cowboy movies where  Wild Bill Hickok is galloping after the train which is racing down the tracks… Bill rides along side and finally jumps on board and goes in and thrashes the crooks. That’s more like our return home. Let me explain more.

Coach Mora Ranting About “Playoffs”

We got home and did a few chores and then Judy went today to get a tooth pulled which was infected and needed a jack hammer to get out. Dr. Steve the Servant, (aka “Me”) is on hand to provide medical advice and keep our life from spiraling out of control. You guessed it, I took a trip to Shoprite to get some food and her prescription for pain. Wouldn’t you know it, the prescription was on “backorder”. Always quick on my feet, I commented “she actually needs it now, not next week.” Well I continued with my shopping list. I actually was zipping quickly thru the store until I got stymied while looking for pie crusts. As I was scanning the shelves I asked a co-shopper, “excuse me, do you know where the pie crusts are…she said, “no I don’t , my husband usually does the shopping. I responded, “no way Jose, my wife normally does the shopping… hahaha”. Then she said, “hold on, I think I see the pie crusts”. I don’t think you would classify this as a miracle, but I was pretty happy about it. Next I completed my list and headed for the self-checkout and got thru without sending out flares for the manager… this may be a miracle. Well, I headed up the road to another pharmacy which actually did have Judy’s pain medicine. I arrived home pretty proud of myself.

Well so far so good. Judy gets her stitches out next week…. a couple of days after her surgery to remove a cyst from her liver. “Dr. Steve the Servant” will be back on his toes to take care of business while providing medical care. Someone said recently, “Dave, you’re retired aren’t you….. I grabbed him by the collar and shouted , “RETIRED, ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? RETIRED?  RETIRED ? ….are you crazy, RETIRED ? …..have you ever been to Shoprite…RETIRED…HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND ?” After I calmed down , I peacefully said, “why yes I am retired, would you care to come over for a glass of strychnine …I mean soda….”

You may be wondering if there is a point to this BLOG? To be honest I’m not sure. I think if I keep typing, a point might show its face …. hmmmmmm, let me see, let me see. Oh, wait a minute. I think there may be a number of possible points. Let me list them and then you can choose which one is the real point. Okay:

  • Number one: “I’m losing my mind”.
  • Number two: “a lot of activity stimulates my brain to make it seem like I’m losing my mind”.
  • Number three: “ I’m perfectly normal, but to the casual observer it may seem like I’m a genius.”
  • Number four: “enjoy the ride… life can be full at times, but enjoy it… the energy and activities makes it clear that you’re alive…so enjoy.”

Well the correct answer is number four. I thank God for the blessed life he has given to us. A lot is going on, but it’s all good. The grace of God makes doing his will possible, not easy. We are so blessed.

So, “Hi Ho Silver Away”…. oh wait a minute, that was the Lone Ranger, not Wild Bill Hickok.

  1. Good job, Dr. Steve.

  2. Thanks to Steve the Servant who tries his best and gets the job done one way or another! Shop Rite should have an assistance program where men can get assistance when they shop! They would prob get a lot more men to shop and spend more money!😀 Grace comes in various forms🙌
