Humility is very dear to the heart of God. Humility is so powerful, it can cause God to change his mind. It seems that the worst person who repents before God with a humble heart will be given another chance.

Let’s recall the recent story of Ahab, the king of Israel. Ahab was not a good man…in fact the bible says ”indeed no one gave himself up to the doing of evil in the sight of the Lord as did Ahab, urged on by his wife Jezebel. He became completely abominable by following idols, just as the Amorites had done.” (1Kings 21:25-26) “He was more evil than all the kings before him.” (1Kings 16:30)
Ahab’s list of atrocities went on and on… often spurred on by his pagan wife Jezebel. What a pair !
Well anyway, Ahab was finally going to get what was coming to him. Elijah gives him the word from God, “ I will destroy you and cut off every male in your line… your bodies will be devoured in the streets by the dogs.” (and the same goes for Jezebel) Yet when Ahab “tore his garments, put on sackcloth, fasted, went about subdued..”, the Lord said to Elijah, “Have you seen that Ahab has humbled himself before me…since he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring evil in his time…” (1Kings 21:29)
Somehow for the worst of sinners, God’s mercy is available when they repent in true humility; true sorrow brings out the tender heart of God. We’re not talking about “alligator tears… or fake humility”… God will smell that out in a millisecond. But when we truly fall on our knees before him , in humility, he pours out his tender mercy. Wow, there’s always room for the worst sinner.
So the moral of this BLOG is do not be afraid to turn back to God when we have made a big mess of our lives. Let’s admit our sins…let’s fall on our knees before him and tell him we have failed….be honest. He will not turn us away. Today is the day of salvation (Ps. 95)
Because of this don’t be surprised who you might see in heaven one day…. ole King Ahab, maybe Hitler, and hopefully you and me. God’s mercy is available to all …we just have to humble ourselves before him …… and all will be well with our soul.
I’ve made plenty of messes. Forgive me Lord for all my sins🙏 Keep purifying our hearts so that we’re ready for heaven🙏
