Recently I’ve been posting a number of BLOGS from last year. As I read some of them I can think, “wow that’s pretty good, or hmmm, not so good.” What’s interesting is that my assessment may not correspond with your assessment.  

We all can have different opinions about almost everything. I may see a “bright, vibrant, neon color” on a car or house and think, “my gosh who picked out that color… wooooo, are you serious”….yet someone loves that color. We are each so different. In many ways, our differences make the “world go round”. Recently a friend of mine commented that a famous and popular Catholic priest sounded like a “used car salesman on steroids”. Yet, many others think he is great and experience God thru him. 

What does God think about you and me and our differences?  Does God approach each of us the same way? If you listen to Christians and how they came to believe and trust in the Lord, you will find a myriad of stories. Some grew to trust and love God from their youth, some near the end of their life….some dramatically, others in the quiet of a church or by a mountain stream. Each situation was unique, because each of us are unique. 

The common factor is that each came to understand that they were in need… that there were parts of their life that weren’t working, parts that were missing. Each  came to  realize that the things of the world didn’t fully satisfy and were fading away. Each came to know that they had sinned and turned from truth and goodness and “fallen short of the glory of God”. At the same time each had come to know that God loved them and would help them if they but turned to him and receive this love. It wasn’t necessarily “perfectly clear” at that moment of decision, but the evidence was strong enough to make a decision, to take a leap, to trust that Jesus was who he said he was. 

So, what about you? Is God knocking at your door. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” (Rev. 3:20)   

Yes, God is knocking at the door of our heart. Do you hear him? Listen carefully, do you hear him knocking? Quiet yourself…turn off the TV and the cell phone…listen….can you hear him? If you still don’t hear him knocking, ask him to knock a bit louder, and then open the door. Ask Jesus to increase your faith and then open the door. And you know what….  Jesus will come in and be with you and give you the gift of peace, joy, and happiness… he will give you life on high.

You may say, “but Dave I don’t have that kind of faith…I don’t even really know who Jesus is…” Well, I’ll tell you this, “if you just ask Jesus to help you, he will”. It’s as simple as saying from your heart, “Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior.” 

The Lord will take it from there and lead you. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. God is so good and he offers each of us life on high. That is the “GOOD NEWS”. Lord Jesus, please help us.
