Scripture tells us what we should spend our time thinking about. “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Phil. 4:8)

Do I do that? Over the past week, did I spend 90% of my time thinking about things that are “true and honorable and just and pure and lovely”, and 10% on wars and rumors of war? What’s the reality here?
I sometimes envision getting a print out of how I spend my time and what I actually do “think about”. It may not be as good as I hope. At times I can find myself discouraged and maybe a bit “down in the dumps”. What role do the thoughts rolling thru my mind play in this? If I spend much of my time thinking about all the negatives of society, is it not surprising that I get a bit down? Gee Dave, this is not exactly rocket science …. most people realize this. Yes, maybe so, but do we live accordingly? Hmmmmm.
So let’s do a little science experiment. Let’s prepare a hypothesis (educated guess) and test it out. Ready?
Hypothesis: Over the next day if we spend our time loving God and our neighbor and pondering the goodness of God, we will end the day happier and less discouraged.
Let’s test it out over the next day and report our results.
There could be a Nobel Prize waiting for the BLOG if this works out.
What a great idea! Maybe we can test each other on Sat night??
