I’ve been having difficulty putting my thoughts together recently. I’ve begun a number of BLOGS, but have not been able to finish them. I’m not sure why. So I thought I would go thru some BLOGS from the past. Perhaps they will lead to some new inspirations.

I was re-reading a BLOG from 4 years ago (Feb. 14, 2022) in which I had referenced Bishop Robert Barron. He said, “most of us spend our spiritual lives in the shallows, preoccupied with the petty things of the world…wealth, power, reputation, pleasure. He said we are not meant for Child’s Play. Quoting Jesus in the gospel of Luke, he called us to put out into the deep. He said we are meant for the adventure of the open sea, the high demand of the spiritual life… we are not meant for child’s play. In risking something for God, we change… we become aware of the greatness of God and our own sinfulness in comparison. What follows is an embrace of mission. (ref. Magnificat Feb. 5, 2002)
These are strong words from Bishop Barron, yet I find them exhilarating. Despite our age or circumstances, let’s put out into the deep once again. We may respond, “but Lord I fished all night and caught nothing…. I’ve already tried to get rid of that nagging sin that still clings too closely…..I’ve already prayed for that child and he’s not healed…. I prayed for my job and my boss is still a mad man….”
Regardless, let’s put out once again into the deep, trusting that the Lord is at hand and will help us. Let’s get out of the shallows. We are not meant for child’s play. We need to experience God as we put out into the deep and allow his spirit to motivate us, and mission will follow. Hey, that’s pretty exciting and very good news.
Please Jesus lead to taking more risks for you🙏
