Independence Day, also called Fourth of July or July 4th, in the United States, the annual celebration of nationhood. It commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776.
“John Adams” is a 2008 American television miniseries chronicling most of U.S. President John Adams’s political life and his role in the founding of the United States. In it you get a sense of the incredible trials in the founding of the United States. Jimmy the Greek would have put the odds of it working out at about 100 to 1. It does seem that God had his hand in the founding of this great nation. So much sacrifice went into it. If you haven’t seen the miniseries, it’s worth watching.
Today this wonderful nation that was built at the cost of so much blood and sacrifice and prayer seems to be losing its way. While certainly not perfect, the United States has been a source of hope for many around the world. As a nation, may we turn back to God and recover our way. “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
In 1893 the poem “America The Beautiful” was written by Katherine Lee Bates. It was later put to song by Samuel Ward. It’s a poem, it’s a song, it’s a prayer. May God hear this prayer of gratitude and heal our land. Happy 4th of July.

I am so grateful for our country now more than ever. I am so grateful for those who have answered the call to keep it one nation under God. Lord Jesus thank you for your mercy on our country as we have done many evil things, especially killing our own babies. Forgive us Lord and heal our land🙏

That third verse always moves me to tears. Thinking of all who gave their lives to defend our country. We are indeed the recipients.
