“It Is You O Lord, You Are The Only One”

I recently sent a note to a friend and BIG Miami Heat fan, congratulating him on how his team had put up a very good fight against the Denver Nuggets who are up 3-1 in the NBA finals. Well, he just got back to me quoting Yogi Berra, “Dave, it ain’t over till it’s over”. Hmmmm, Bill has a lot of confidence in his team, even when the odds are against them. (By the time you read this BLOG, it may be over or maybe not.)

While I’m not a big NBA fan anymore, I am a big fan of God and his creation. At times it seems like God is down 3-0 in the Finals and the odds don’t look good. With the Lord and his creation, a lot more is at stake than a nice trophy and “bragging rites”. Yet it’s at this time that I need to be reminded that this fight between the kingdom and God and Satan is not a fair fight. The Lord is God and Satan is simply one of his creatures who has not done well.

“It is you, O Lord, you are the only one; you made the heavens, the highest heavens and all their host, the earth and all that is upon it, the seas and all that is in them. To all of them you give life, and the heavenly hosts bow down before you.” (Nehemiah 9:6)

If you want to get your head on straight, spend some time in the scriptures. If you are not sure how everything is going to turn out, spend some time in God’s Word …. and the truth will set you free. We long for good to prevail. We long for happiness. We long for evil to be defeated, once and for all. When we are reminded of God’s eternal truth, we will once again see that “It is you, O Lord, you are the only one”.

So while Bill and his Miami Heat may actually surprise us and rally and prevail, there will be no surprises when it comes to God and his enemies. “For us there is one God, the Father, from whom all things are and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and through whom we exist.” (1 Cor 8:6)

So as the word of God encourages us, let us encourage one another. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus. Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all encouragement, who encourages us in our every affliction, so that we may be able to encourage those who are in any affliction with the encouragement with which we ourselves are encouraged by God.” (2Cor. 1:1-7)

Wow, what “Good News” !!!

  1. God’s word is a true light for our path. God made us human beings and shows how to live as his children in his Word. Praise God for the Word of Life and the grace to know that God always wins🙌🏻
