“God Is Not Ashamed To Be Called Your God”

Recently I found out that something I did was not pleasing to her…. So I’m trying hard not to do it anymore. Time will tell how that works out. I do want to please her because I love her.

If we love God, we want to please him. What are some of the ways we can please God? Well, certainly doing his will, doing what he calls us to do, loving him and our neighbor are fundamental ways we can please God. Chapter eleven of the book of Hebrews gives us some additional clues on how to do this.  It says, “without faith it is impossible to please him. For whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him”. (Heb. 11:6) When we believe what God has said…when we believe that he loves us and is trustworthy and that he is taking care of us…. when we put our money where our mouth is, placing our life in his hands, this pleases him. Without faith, it is impossible to please him. It goes on to say that for men and women of faith, “God is not ashamed to be called their God.” (Heb. 11:16)

Trust is an important aspect of our relationship with God. He likes it when we trust him. It’s important to God that we trust him, that we know that he loves us and will take care of us. It matters to God. As a parent, it’s important that our children know we love them and are caring for them and have their best interest at heart. It’s very difficult if we come to realize that our kids don’t thing we love them or trust us.

It’s hard to have a relationship without mutual trust. It’s really faith. And faith needs testing at time. “Trust me on this” requires faith. I can’t fully see the outcome, but I have faith in the one making the promise. And as the promise is fulfilled, my trust grows stronger.

So, let’s keep trusting the Lord and our faith will grow stronger. Ultimately we will be trusting our very soul into the arms of the Lord as we take our dying breath. At that moment may our faith be strong. May our trust find its ultimate reward as we hear, “you have pleased me, you have trusted me, it’s time for the ultimate reward…life on high with God ….  I am not ashamed to be called your God.”

And that is very good news.
