You may have noticed that we’ve been missing a few editions of the BLOG…. at least I hope you’ve noticed. A lot’s been going on in my life, as I’m sure is true with you. A heads up…we’re in the 3rd week of Advent and the 4th week of Advent is one day…Christmas Eve is this Sunday. My head is spinning. My head is spinning and I’m retired; your head must have already spinned (or spun) off into the universe.

Heads can be spinning for a variety of reasons, some good and some bad. In my case a lot of good stuff is happening, but the net result is still a “spinning head”. We just had our Choir Christmas concert on Sunday. We’ve been practicing for two months. It was great, but we still have practice tonight for Christmas Eve mass…my head is spinning and I don’t even have a solo. I could probably just move my lips, not make a sound and no one would know. (I know, I know, I know, God would know and the choir director would know, who happens to be my daughter… and I would know.)
Our son Pete and his wife Kristin just had a wonderful baby boy. He is a great little guy, but decided to come two months early weighing 3 pounds, 14 ounces. He’ll be in the NICU for a few more weeks. If you think your head is spinning, think of Pete & Kristin with their other 4 kids going to the Christmas pageant and Christmas choir…and little Quintin Isaac back at the hospital. It’s all good, but heads are spinning.
I know that those reading this BLOG have a lot of things going on and some of it is not good, some of it is really difficult. We went to the funeral of a good friend today. We have other good friends who are spending their first Christmas without their spouse of many years. This beautiful Christmas season will be a challenge for them, a challenge unlike any other. Their head will be spinning.
So, what’s the point of this BLOG beyond the “spinning head” phenomena? Well, we can’t let the “busyness and the challenges” that assail us have the last word. We are entering into this greatest of seasons where we can embrace the coming of our savior in the birth of Jesus. And remember: “have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:6-7)
Let’s click on the following link to listen to this Wexford Carol by Libera to help calm our busy soul. Let’s pray for one another to have a peaceful remainder of Advent and a blessed Christmas season.
Such a good reminder. Thanks Dad

The song quiets my soul and turns my eyes towards Mary and Joseph travelling to Bethlehem. They are walking with us quietly in this Advent season leading us to the Christ child, humble and low lying in a manger with his arms reaching out to the poor and the hurting 🙌He came to save us🙌
